This is a part of the original old moat. They started to build the castle Oldenburg around 1100 which makes this piece of moat a very old body of water.

This lake is man made. It is about 60 years old. When they developed this part of town they made and named it after the great US President. There is a tiny island in the middle which serves as breeding ground for countless birds. I actually grew up here. We didn’t live here but my mother owned a pet shop very close by.
