One Pot

Beef!

I did it! After thinking about it for at least a half year I finally purchased a Dutch Oven. Yes I know, 60 Euros is a ton of money for a pot. Was it really worth it? Yes! To my own surprise this thing is worth every cent. I had no idea that a really expensive pot compared to a normal prized pot is so big. It’s a bit like magic of some sort. But what really amazes me are all these yummi one pot recipes that are out there. One pot (Eintopf) is actually a German thing. Back when I was a kid one pot meals where neither healthy nor yummi. They where just time saving and filled your belly (who cares for taste or nutritional value, right?). I still shudder when I remember that one pot my father made so often. Ground beef, green bell peppers – at that time only the green kind was available here in Germany and oh boy, was it bitter – and potatoes. He cooked that stuff for hours till even the last vitamin was killed off. The only thing left from all the bell pepper was the peel. Gods, that stuff was horribad. A total waste of resources. Stir fried that would have been a nice and healthy meal, but during that time people tended to cook actual healthy stuff to pulp.

Have a pawesome day, stay healthy and be safe out there.

Yumminess in a Bun

Yumminess in a Bun

Now look at this beauty! The reason I share this picture is the way this burger looks. Usually they look like a total mess when they arrive at your home, but this one, for some strange reason looks like on the menu picture. It amazed the living daylight outta me, so I had to share it. I’ll not tell you from where this burger comes from but if you really want you can eventually figure it out. =p

Such a burger is the exception for me, since I live keto/low carb and sugar free since years, but ones a month or every other month I treat myself with fast food. It’s good for the soul and as long as you keep it a exception your body can handle it just fine. And believe it or not but the bun is the bad part, if you remove it you have something low carb and depending on the dressings it might even be keto.

So, what’s your favorite “cheat” item? Have a pawesome day and be safe out there. ❤

NO Sugar Wanted

I live sugar free for about 4 years and I have no intention to go back to sugar ever (hell might freeze over and the governments might stop to collect taxes from us, but I will never go back to sugar). Now, the story how I got there goes not like you now may think. It was not because of weight issues, not due to allergies and for sure not because of diabetic. And if the following can help just one person, it was worth the entire blog thing.

It all started back in 2005. I was diagnosed with a severe chronic depression. It was a long dark road but eventually I got through it. I started to feel better but the one thing I couldn’t get a handle on was that constant fatigue. I never had enough energy for not even the most simple things, like household chores. I’m sure, if you ever had to deal with depression you know exactly what I’m talking about. However, as long as you are still stuck in this really depressive phase, you don’t give a fuck about how your home looks, but as soon as you feel better you start to care just that you do not have enough energy to fix things. So you have to find a way to fix your energy level first, right. But how?

I started to do some research and so I ran into Keto (ketogenic diet – high fad, medium protein, low carbs) and that changed everything. All old food items had to go (gave it to a friend) and I switched my diet to keto without any exceptions. That also meant no more sugar. Did that mean I had to abandon all the yummi stuff? Hell no, I just replaced the really bad stuff with healthy alternatives. And it fixed just everything. It fixed even things I didn’t know could be fixed. I have more energy than ever before, no more brain fog, my skin is looking great, my joints don’t hurt anymore (there is a story about the hurting joints, but that is for sometime later), I feel so much better in general and my family doctor (who never heard of keto) can not believe how awesome my blood test results are.

I lived strictly on keto for almost 4. I still eat healthy and sugar free. It is important what you eat because what you eat will influence how you feel. Be safe and have a pawesome day.
