Gotcha Day

Her Royal Cuteness Lady Amilia, age 12 weeks

On November 14. 2017 Ami wiggled into my life and I had no idea how much she would change everything around. Of course, the journey started long before she actually got here. There was a lot of research. I had to find the right race for me. For somebody with chronic depression a husky sure isn’t the right choice. For me it needed to be a low energy level dog (in other words, a couch potato) to make sure I can meet her walkies need regardless how I feel. Bulldogs are the perfect match for that. Actually, nowadays it is the way that I want to go out and walk and she tells me to bugger off. After I had decided on the race, I needed to get the theory part of the dog owners license (it’s mandatory by law here in Lower Saxony) done. So there was a lot of studying involved. These tests are taken by licensed dog trainers and I can remember I was sitting in his kitchen, his really big cat on my lap, taking that test. It was like 88 questions but I passed with flying colors. Ya the cat helped me, but don’t tell anybody.

Without car and drivers license (I never made one) my options where kinda limited on where to look for a puppy. Somebody told me to look on Ebay want ad. That way you can search regional. There was a small list of OEB’s and as soon as I saw her picture I knew she is mine. Then everything went very fast, some emails, some phone calls and the “breeder” even offered to bring her to me. Perfect!

It was a Wednesday evening when she arrived. Instead of having her in a transport crate, that dimwit had tied her with the leash in the trunk. Poor girl. He handed me her papers, the contract and, surprise surprise, 6 Panacur (that’s a medication for giardien – sorry, couldn’t find a translation – it’s a parasite in the bowels, often in cats and dogs, especially when too many animals are held in too small and unclean spaces). Would have been nice if he would have mentioned that during our conversation on the phone. Well, to make a long story short, I ended up spending around 1 k on vet costs to get rid of that massive infection. I’m glad she got outta there in time.

She is the best thing that ever happen to me. It is amazing how much joy, fun and love a dog can add to your life. Yes, it’s constant learning too, for both, but it’s the fun kind of learning (nothing annoying like math). I went from not leaving the house at all to several walkies every day. Even on bad days we walk, which makes me feel better right away. And there isn’t a day where she doesn’t make me laugh and giggle.

Have a pawesome day, no matter where on our planet you are. Stay safe and healthy. ❤

Influencer Influenza

Mom trying to be funny again

So there is this German TV show, very small production I think and not even very popular. It’s about spoiled teenagers who get send to a monastery/cloister for a week to get their attitude straight. That includes no cellphones, TV and that like, no smoking, no drugs, no alcohol, no make up, no social media. Instead getting up with the sun and working for their community. I find it quite funny. There was this elderly nun. She must have been in her 80th, totally sweet lady. She was talking to one of the candidates, a 16 years young brat who never did anything useful in her life. The nun asked her what she would like to do with her life, what she would like to accomplish in her life and that girl responded “I want to be an influencer”. The nun looked at her, thinking for a sec and trying to make sense of what she just heard, and then she said: “Oh Influenza, ya that’s not nice to have!” You need to know that both words sound nearly identical. This old nun nailed it without knowing what she did. Influencer are as annoying and useless like Influenza. =p Have a pawesome day everybody and be safe out there. ❤

Tiny Doggy Sweater

Tiny Sweater for Mr. D the Chihuahua

I got sidetracked . . . again *le sigh*. Last night my friend told me that she would love some warm winter cloth for her tiny chihuahua Mr. D. and we where wondering if I could either knit or crochet some. So this morning, still on my first coffee, I went and looked for a tutorial of some sort. I found a really really pawesome one over there at Twin Star Hooks . For the yarn I used a German brand and I had to adjust the size a bit since Mr. D. is very tiny, but it was super easy and super much fun. You bet, I’ll do some more of those. And I can’t wait to check out her other tutorials. Well, off for some more crochet fun or so. Have a pawesome day and be safe out there. ❤

Mad Dawgs and Giggles

Her Royal Cuteness, Miss “Snugglebug” Amilia

This story is about preconceptions and how life proves them wrong in a very funny way. I think most of us are not free of preconceptions, right? I mean, I see a tax officer and think “quick, shoot it”, but I’m sure there are fair and kind tax officers out there . . . somewhere . . . maybe . . . naaa just shoot it. This was a stupid example but I’m sure you totally get what I mean, right? It happened last week. Ami had a walkies date with her best buddy Mr. D. He is the most adorable apple head chihuahua. Yes, this combo seems odd, a rather chunky (don’t tell her I said that) Old English Bulldog and this 15 cm / 6 inches bundle of cuteness, but they complete each other somehow. He is a huge dog in a tiny body and Ami is a tiny dog in a huge body. So we where walking through the local nature preserve. The path there can get pretty narrow at some points, less than a meter, so we where walking one after another, Ami and I first, Mr. D and his mom right after us.

His Royal Cuteness, Mr. “Maximum Carnage” D

We where just at a especially tight spot when a woman with a beautiful border collie came from ahead. As she walked closer she first looked at Ami and then she asked me “is it dangerous?”. And I’m like yes totally savage, be aware. Inside I was rolling my eyes at her. So she sneaked by on tiptoes. Ami didn’t even look at them, totally boring to her. And then they reached Mr. D . . . . GROWLROARDROOLSNARLGROWL!!! He totally made clear that he is no nonsense and that he doesn’t appreciate people looking funny at us. 6 inches total savageness. *grins* I love that little guy so much. Ami does too. And that woman maybe learned something. Things often are not what they look like. Have a pawesome day everybody and be safe out there.
